History of Crystal Corner:

The Owners, Forney and Mary Ann Lowery established the business in 1984.  Mary Ann,  who has a Business Degree from Jacksonville University, found a love for matching discontinued china and crystal while working as a Bookkeeper for another Discontinued Matching Service from 1978 until 1984. After doing their books for two months, she found extra time on her hands.  She begin looking for more work in the store to make the day shorter. After helping in the china department, it didn't take her long to realize working with China,  Dinnerware and Crystal   was what she wanted to do.  The thought of helping someone replace that broken piece of china that was handed down through the years was exciting to her.  She did the purchasing thru inventories that were mailed to her some different shops.  That just wasn't enough for her, she wanted to go out and actually help locate the patterns herself.  She says "It was a wonderful feeling to be looking thru an attic of a shop and find a piece of china that I knew many people was searching for.  I just could not wait to return to my shop, and let them know that we had located the piece."  She says that they only purchase mint condition pieces, as they ship worldwide.  

After a few years, she decided to go into business for herself.  Mary Ann and her husband, Forney begin a mail order business in her basement for Discontinued Crystal, which later expanded into renting a small shop in Boaz, Alabama. With the move from the basement, they were able to add China, Stainless, and a few collectibles.  Within two years, they purchased an old home place where the business resides, today.  After remodeling and expanding 4 times, she thinks that this is the limit.  The shop is now packed with china, gifts, collectibles, and gifts.   You have to see to believe.
